November 2006 Vol 1 Issue 9 |
RF Central and Total RF combined their efforts on November 5th, successfully producing a seamless live broadcast of the 2006 ING New York City Marathon. WNBC New York aired the marathon live in its entirety. RF Central's 6-way Diversity Receiver (RFX-RMR-X6) proved itself once again. Approximately 18 were used throughout the 26-mile event to receive transmissions. Six on-course vehicles and two helicopters transmitted the footage via five Camera-Mount Transmitters (RFX-CMT) and three Portable Digital Transmitters (RFX-PDT). Total RF and RF Central provided 52 technicians and production specialists to produce the event.
The Letterman Show turned to Total RF & RF Central to provide real-time in car video for its VW 'Rocket Car' on September 1. RF Central's Camera-Mount Transmitters (RFX-CMT) was used to transmit the video live from the California Desert to The Letterman Show studio audience in New York. RF Central's state of the art technology and Total RF's expertise made this challenging broadcast possible.
The 77th Annual Columbus Day Parade was held in New York City on Monday, October 9. Total RF produced the event with RF Central's Camera-Mount Transmitter (RFX-CMT) for broadcast on WNBC-Channel 4. Founded by the Columbus Citizens Foundation, the Columbus Day parade has been a New York tradition since 1929 and has become a televised event with millions of viewers in North America, South America, and Europe.
On Sunday, October 22, Total RF, working for WBBM Chicago (CBS 2) and LaSalle Bank, facilitated the television broadcast of the 29th Annual LaSalle Bank Chicago Marathon. Over 40,000 runners competed in this world-class road event. Total RF provided continuous, live, uninterrupted start-to-finish coverage along the course using RF Central's technology. Transmission of the event was facilitated by the use of RF Central's Digital COFDM Camera-Mount Transmitters (RFX-CMT) and 6-way Diversity Receivers (RFX-RMR-X6). The benefit of RF Central's digital-based equipment over previous analog equipment was apparent in the flawless coverage provided throughout the 26-mile course without the use of any relay helicopters.
